OSLO purchased the property at 5228 Meadow Ridge of the Brookview Heights neighborhood in Edina. The location is in close proximity to Normandale Park, Southdale, and has convenient access to Hwy 100. The project plan was to completely renovate the reverse-rambler home, revitalize the interior and exterior, maintain the integrity of the neighborhood, and to resell it as new construction within five months.
A highlight of the renovation was a unique design element to the reverse-rambler layout - OSLO opened the floor around the stairway allowing natural light from a large widow to flow between the upper and lower levels. This design element alleviated the "basement feel” of the lower level, transforming it into a pleasant and comfortable living space.* OSLO added square footage to the home in two stages. First, the lower level in the back was excavated and a floor truss was installed, creating a new bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room on the lower level, and a larger kitchen and dining space on the upper level. Next, the side deck o ver the garage was enclosed to create a large master bedroom and bathroom suite. Other features of the project included a new deck off the kitchen in the back, hardwood floors throughout the upper level, stairs, and entry way, architectural detailing of the front facade, a large walk-in shower, an expansive master bedroom closet, and new landscaping. New electrical, plumbing, and HVAC were also installed. Once complete, the house was put on the market and sold in 8 days on [date]. *This reverse-rambler design element was requested and used by a remodel client - see the [Luoma] project. |
